Synergy Security Solutions has taken another important step in the continued development of our environmental & sustainability programme with the introduction of our Net Zero Strategy 2026–2035.
The Strategy establishes a structured framework for measuring, managing & reducing greenhouse-gas emissions across our operations & wider value chain, while ensuring that environmental progress continues to support the operational resilience, reliability & service standards expected by our customers.
As part of the Strategy, 2026 will be established as Synergy’s organisational greenhouse-gas baseline year, providing a measurable starting point against which future environmental performance & carbon reduction can be assessed.
Our long-term objective is to achieve Net Zero greenhouse-gas emissions across our value chain by 2050 at the latest.
Subject to validation of our 2026 baseline, Synergy is also targeting a minimum 50% reduction in absolute Scope 1 & Scope 2 greenhouse-gas emissions by 2035, while progressively identifying, measuring & reducing material Scope 3 emissions associated with our wider supply chain & business activities.
Turning Commitment into Measurable Action
For Synergy, achieving Net Zero is about much more than making an environmental commitment.
Our Strategy creates a practical programme of action across the areas where we can make a meaningful difference, including:
measuring & reducing greenhouse-gas emissions;
transitioning our operational fleet towards zero & lower-emission vehicles where operationally appropriate;
reducing fuel consumption through improved route planning, vehicle utilisation & anti-idling measures;
reducing energy consumption across our premises;
increasing the use of renewable electricity where practicable;
improving sustainable procurement across vehicles, uniforms, PPE, equipment & other goods & services;
reducing waste & increasing reuse & recycling;
reducing unnecessary business travel;
engaging key suppliers on their own environmental performance;
monitoring progress through defined environmental KPIs & annual management review.
The Strategy recognises the particular environmental profile of the security industry. As a national security services provider, our fleet including mobile patrol, supervisory & management vehicles represents an important area in which measurable reductions can be achieved.
Synergy will therefore introduce an EV-first assessment approach for future vehicle replacement decisions, while taking account of operational range, charging infrastructure, reliability, response requirements & the need to maintain uninterrupted service to our customers.
Our ambition is for at least 50% of our company-controlled fleet to be zero or low-emission by 2030, progressing towards 80–100% by 2035, where operationally suitable.
Accountability & Transparent Reporting
A central principle of the Strategy is simple: measure before claiming & reduce before neutralising.
Synergy will develop an annual greenhouse-gas inventory & KPI scorecard covering areas including Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, material Scope 3 emissions, fleet performance, renewable electricity, waste management, supplier environmental assessment & carbon intensity.
Progress will be reviewed annually by senior management, with environmental considerations increasingly incorporated into operational, fleet, procurement & investment decisions.
This approach will also strengthen the environmental evidence we can provide to customers through ESG questionnaires, tender submissions, PQQs & contract reviews.
Supporting Our Customers & Our Future
Environmental performance is becoming an increasingly important consideration for customers, employees, regulators & the communities in which we operate.
Our Net Zero Strategy is designed to ensure that Synergy responds to those expectations with measurable actions, documented evidence and clear accountability, rather than environmental statements alone.
As our General Manager, Shahz Saeed, explains:
“Synergy has built its reputation on delivering professional, reliable & responsive security services. Our environmental strategy is about ensuring that we continue to develop that service responsibly.
We are setting out a practical pathway that reflects the realities of a national, mobile security operation. Our priority is to measure our impact properly, reduce emissions wherever we can & ensure that environmental considerations increasingly become part of the way we make operational & investment decisions.
Importantly, our environmental transition will be managed in a way that supports rather than compromises operational capability, employee safety or the service we provide to our customers.”
The launch of the Synergy Security Solutions Net Zero Strategy 2026–2035 represents another important stage in the continued development of our management systems & our commitment to responsible, resilient & sustainable security service delivery.
Our direction is clear: measure, reduce, improve & report with Net Zero across our value chain as our long-term objective.
