Synergy Spotlight - Stelios Michael

When did you Join Synergy, and what attracted you to the company?

I initially joined the company in 2012 and have since served a total of 8 years, with many more to continue. The opportunity for progression and working with class leading teams / customer brands.

How has your experience with the company been since you started?

It has been a roller coaster to say the least, a very interesting and positive journey to say I am very grateful to be a part of. Gaining experience from all levels of the company at the front line, to the operations and now business. My professional and both personnel development has been supported by both my colleagues and mentors through further education and hands-on experience with new opportunities. I continue to grow and nourish as the company and teams continue to progress and expand.

How has your role changed since joining Synergy and what skills have you learned?

I have progressed from a Security Agent to Team Lead, Supervisor, Operations Support and Lead. Then to an Account Manager for one of our leading Corporate tech clients and now for the past 9+ months being promoted to EMEA Key Account Manager for our company corporate portfolio across 10+ countries. I have gained skills throughout all levels of the physical Security field in a day to day capacity of working with large scale teams and both from a customer service perspective with service deliverables. Improving my management knowledge on how the business operates with candidate / vendor selection, human resources, financials and more directly with business quarterly reviews, audits and vendor management.

How would you describe your team?

Diverse, unique and all individuals bring their strengths from various fields allowing the company to continuously excel and progress to that next level.

What do you feel is the most interesting element of your role?

Traveling across Europe, working with various vendor partner teams and absorbing multiple processes / regulations that can be adapted / adopted to support growth and development across our operations.

What do you find most challenging about your role?

Being the go to person / company representative for account management teams throughout Europe, I have made some minor errors along the way by applying a working system in one region to another but the key element is to understand that there is no one size fits all process and taking the time to take a step back, evaluate and do some research would be my advice.

Do you feel your work and efforts have been recognised? If so, How?

Yes, by providing me with the opportunity to grow within the organisation, through our award scheme and funding for further development.

What advice would you provide to someone interested in joining the security Industry?

The Security industry can be very rewarding, and can open up the path to a variety of fields. If you put in the time and effort, progression will follow.

Not being afraid to get out of your comfort zone, work on various projects that might seem daunting or applying for that role you think you may not be successful for. Taking that chance will pay off, and nothing beats that sense of achievement of getting stuck in and giving it a go. The Security industry globally / internationally is very small so build up those contacts.
