Synergy Spotlight - Shannon Doherty

How long have you been working with Synergy, and what attracted you to the company?

I joined Synergy Security back in March 2022 as HR Support Officer not long after I completed my studies. When I saw Synergy was advertising for HR support it perked my interest, especially when I read more about the company.

How has your experience with the company been since you started?

My experience within the company has been great and everyday I am learning something new which will benefit me in my future. Through different training Synergy has helped me with my personal and professional development.

How have you found learning about a new Industry?

Challenging in a good way but very interesting as I didn’t know much about the security industry before I joined. Thankfully we have a very supportive team and we learn from each other so I was able to pick it up pretty fast.

How would you describe your team?

The team here in Synergy are a great support and will always help you out as much as they can.

What are your main responsibilities as a HR support officer?

There are many responsibilities in HR but on a daily basis it would be recruiting, training, implementing policies and procedures, dealing with HR queries and managing the orientation process to get employees set up in their new role.

How did you manage working through Covid-19?

Working through covid was difficult but very much an eye opening experience. You don’t realise how much social interaction is needed just to even communicate with a person.I adapted to try to support employees and customers as much as possible.

What do you feel is the most interesting element of your role?

I feel the most interesting part is that not everyday is the same. I learn something new most days and the work varies everyday.

Do you feel your work and efforts have been recognised? If so, How?

Definitely feel that my work and efforts have been recognised and appreciated.

What advice would you provide to someone interested in joining the security Industry?

The advice I would give would be to avail of all the opportunities that the security industry offers whether it's a trainee program, career progression or any training and development you are being offered. “Opportunities to learn are the opportunities to grow”
