Synergy Spotlight - Sarah Hanley

When did you Join Synergy, and what attracted you to the company?

Prior to joining Synergy Security Solutions, I gained vast experience within the hospitality sector which led to my interest within Human Resources. In order to gain my qualification in HR, I first completed a level 6 in Human Resource management and recently completed my Higher DIploma in Human Resource Management. My experience within the hospitality sector developed my interest in HR, particularly training and development.

How long have you been working with Synergy, and what attracted you to the company?

I joined Synergy Security in June 2022 as a HR Support Officer while I was completing my studies. The opportunity to gain experience in a broad HR role and develop my knowledge further is what first attracted me to my role in Synergy.

How has your experience with the company been since you started?

The training and opportunities I have experienced and been provided with since joining Synergy has further rooted and expanded my knowledge within the area of HR. It has thoroughly been a learning journey to date!

How have you found learning about a new Industry?

As I did not come from a security background previously, it was initially intimidating as I was out of my comfort zone. The support and training provided by my colleagues was brilliant and led to me quickly becoming comfortable within my team. As there are various policies and procedures that are specific to the Industry, there was a lot to learn, but the team's support ensured this was attainable.

How would you describe your team?

My team within Synergy, and my colleagues within all departments in fact,  are very supportive and always willing to share their knowledge!

What are your main responsibilities as a HR support officer?

There are various responsibilities in my role as a HR Support Officer such as recruitment, training, maintaining and implementing company policies and procedures, supporting the team, employee relations and dealing with any HR queries

What do you feel is the most interesting element of your role?

It is a very fast paced role, and due to this I'm constantly learning! Each day brings something new.

Do you feel your work and efforts have been recognised? If so, How?

Yes, our hard work and project completions are always recognised through thanks, and also through our online recognition platform!

What advice would you provide to someone interested in joining the security Industry?

There are significant opportunities within the security sector. Whether it is a Security Officer position or someone like me in an office based position, the variety of work is huge. There are also various trainee positions encouraging suitable candidates who do not have previous experience gain exposure to the industry! This variety in turn also allows for vast progression opportunities.
