Synergy Spotlight - Paddy Mulligan

When did you Join Synergy?

I rejoined the security Industry in 1998, and transferred to Synergy Security in 2014. I have previously worked short term within the Industry before beginning my career in football so knew I had an interest in the role along with the required skill set.

How have your previous skills helped you in your current role?

My previous skills and knowledge from working in a competitive team and coaching environment prepared me with many overlapping skills I have been able to apply to my role within security. To note one, the sense of camaraderie and teamwork amongst colleagues is so important, and such an important dynamic contributing to the protection of life and property. This results in a conscientiousness to support one's colleagues and team mates. Football has taught me to always keep my mind, and eyes, open as there is always something new to be learnt.

How has your experience with the company been since you started?

In large I have had a very positive experience with the company since transferring. I work in a wonderful location and enjoy my work thoroughly. It has its ups and downs, as everything does. A difficult time for me was covid, as due to government restrictions and the closure of certain businesses I was working covering different locations, which ultimately provided new learning opportunities for me.

How would you describe your team?

I work with a great team! The people I work with are trustworthy, polite and mannerly people which makes going to work enjoyable.

What do you feel is the most interesting element of your role?

The location I work on allows me to meet and engage with members of the public regularly, which keeps me alert! I daily get to meet vibrant, smashing people which really keeps me young, I have no plans of retiring any time soon! If I did I wouldn’t get to do things like this.

What do you find most challenging about your role?

The only thing I could note as challenging, is the 5am start! Haha.

What advice would you provide to someone interested in joining the security Industry?

If you are a people person,  interested in helping and engaging with people, I would say go for it! Anyone who is committed to providing positive customer service will find a brilliant role within the industry. Humans need interaction and being able to contribute positively to someone's day is very rewarding!
